Circuit Judges preside over felony charges, family law matters, civil actions involving more than $15,000.00 in damages,
juvenile cases, and other matters. The Second Judicial Circuit covers 6 counties: Jefferson; Leon; Gadsden; Wakulla;
Liberty; and Franklin. A Circuit Judge is elected for a term of 6 years. During that term, the Circuit Judge works
throughout these six counties, by holding hearings and presiding over trials in Monticello, Tallahassee, Quincy,
Crawfordville, Bristol, and Apalachicola.
Who you elect as your Circuit Judge is important because that person will be called upon to exercise discretion wisely
